Threshold is a Seattle-based queer/trans-centerd poetic-performance art series. The series invites performers to develop hybridized performances, flex their artistic agency, and engage however the please with a conceptual theme and accompanying set. Cass founded & co-organizes the series alongside Martha Ryan.
The first installment, held in November 2024 at Common Area Maintenance (CAM), was themed after the myth of Narcissus. The upcoming second installment, titled “Desire Machine,” draws from Deleuze and Guattari’s concept of desire production and will entail an interactive set of disassembled machine parts and physical desire symbols like red lipstick, roses, letters and letter openers, and more.
The second installment, Desire Machine, is scheduled for July 12, 2025 at Common Objects Gallery in Seattle. For more information & tickets, follow Threshold on Instagram & check out the event page. 2025 installments of Threshold have been made possible by funding from The Puffin Foundation.
